Lawn and surrounding evergreen trees

The Columbia Estate / Life beyond the rooms

At home in the
Pacific Northwest.

Four seasons. A changing landscape.
A rhythm that is distinctly your own.

Vancouver, Washington

A different pace,
through every season.

Life here can hold a quiet morning and an evening out in the same day. The pleasure is in that choice: time in the estate’s rooms and grounds, then a market, a river walk or a cultural occasion when you feel like going further.

This guide describes the Vancouver area and suggests ways to enjoy the home. Seasonal patterns are typical, not a forecast; the photographs show the actual property and are not simulations of each season.

01

Spring
March — May

The landscape returns to color.

The season outside

Spring moves gradually from cool, rainy days toward milder afternoons. Layers and a light rain shell remain useful, even as the daylight grows and outdoor plans become more frequent.

Look for cherry blossoms around Officers Row and Clark College, or plan a walk near the seasonal camas blooms around Lacamas Lake. A market stop can turn an ordinary weekend into flowers for the table and ingredients for dinner.

At the estate

At the estate, imagine a slower morning looking out over the lawn, followed by lunch in the dining room. The covered patio offers a place to pause between showers; use the brighter stretches for time in the grounds.

A blossom walk, fresh flowers, an unhurried lunch.

02

Summer
June — August

Make room for the long evenings.

The season outside

July and August are typically the warmest and driest months. June can still bring rain, and cooler evenings make an extra layer useful after an afternoon outdoors. Individual summer days can be much hotter than seasonal averages.

The gardens at Fort Vancouver and the riverfront offer different ways to spend a day outside. Summer also brings outdoor music and art: make a concert the occasion for dinner downtown, or leave an afternoon open for a regional park.

At the estate

The pool, patio and lawn lend themselves to an outdoor rhythm when conditions suit. Move from a swim to dinner, then back indoors to the living room or theater. These are possibilities for daily life, rather than a promise of year-round pool conditions.

An afternoon outside. Dinner that carries into evening.

03

Autumn
September — November

A quieter kind of abundance.

The season outside

September often retains some summer warmth. Through October and November, temperatures fall and rain becomes more frequent. The change is gradual: bright afternoons and wet mornings can sit side by side.

Officers Row is a setting for fall foliage, while North Clark County offers scenic drives and seasonal winery visits. Consider a walk around Battle Ground Lake or a stop at Cedar Creek Grist Mill, allowing the weather to set the pace.

At the estate

This is a season for cooking and gathering. The kitchen’s connection to the living spaces keeps conversation close; the formal dining room gives a meal its own occasion. A theater evening offers a natural finish when the rain returns.

A scenic drive, a seasonal meal, a film at home.

04

Winter
December — February

The pleasure of coming home.

The season outside

Winter is generally cool and wet, with shorter days. Snow is less common at low elevations, but freezing weather and ice can occur. Conditions in the foothills and mountains differ from those in the city.

Winter birdwatching at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge offers a different view of the region. Closer to the city, pair a café visit with a gallery or a performance, and look to the Columbia River for scheduled Christmas Ships outings in December.

At the estate

The estate’s interior spaces come into their own: a shared meal, time in the living room, a film in the dedicated theater. Keep outdoor plans flexible and make room for small rituals that turn a rainy afternoon into time well spent.

Coffee, a cultural outing, an evening indoors.

The everyday perspective

Room for real life.

A seasonal routine

Keep a rain layer close in the cooler months and leave room in summer plans for warm afternoons. A flexible calendar makes it easier to enjoy both the city and the landscape.

Outings with intention

Choose a market morning, a gallery visit or a performance as the anchor for a day out. Check opening hours and event programs directly before setting off.

A home to return to

The photographs show separate places to gather and retreat: dining and living spaces, a dedicated theater, a covered patio, pool and grounds. A private showing is the best way to understand how those spaces fit your own routine.
